Sending money from India abroad is seamless with Matrix Forex. Here's how the process works in four simple steps.
Sending Money to GREECE — What You Need to Know
Sending money from India to Greece is a regular outward remittance need for Indian residents. The most common purposes are university fees, tourism, funding linked to residency and property, and family support. The live EUR rate is shown in the calculator above, and at Matrix Forex you transact at the interbank rate with zero markup applied.
Matrix Forex is an RBI-authorised Category II Authorised Dealer (Licence No. NDL-ADII-0023-2023). Where banks typically build a 2 to 3 percent markup into the quoted rate, we apply none, so the figure shown in the calculator is what your beneficiary receives. Greece is in the Eurozone and part of the SEPA area, so transfers are credited using the beneficiary’s IBAN together with the bank’s SWIFT/BIC code.
All transfers to Greece are processed under the RBI’s Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS), which permits Indian residents to remit up to USD 250,000 equivalent per financial year for permitted purposes including education, family maintenance, medical treatment, and private visits. TCS may apply on remittances above ₹10 lakh per FY (0 percent on education funded by an education loan; 2 percent on self-funded education and medical; 20 percent on other purposes). TCS is fully refundable against your annual income tax liability.
Transfers to Greece are sent through the SWIFT network and typically credit to the beneficiary account within 24 to 48 hours. For transfers initiated before 2 PM IST on business days, same-day processing is available, with a SWIFT reference number and status updates over WhatsApp.
