FAQs

Frequently asked questions

What is the live CHF to INR rate today?+
The live rate is shown at the top of this page and updates every few

seconds at the interbank rate.
Why is the CHF to INR rate so high?+
The franc is one of the higher-value major currencies against the rupee.

CHF/INR rose through 2025 and 2026 as the rupee weakened broadly. The

franc's safe-haven status also keeps it strong during periods of global

market stress.
How many Swiss francs do I need for a Switzerland trip from India?+
For a 7 to 10 day Switzerland trip, most travellers carry CHF 800 to CHF

1,500 in cash plus another CHF 1,000 to CHF 2,000 on a forex card.

Budget on CHF 150 to CHF 250 per day mid-range.
How many CHF can I carry from India?+
USD 3,000 equivalent in cash per trip, roughly CHF 2,400 at current

rates.
Can I use euros in Switzerland?+
Sometimes. Many tourist-area shops, hotels, and restaurants will accept

euros but will give you change in francs at an unfavourable rate. For

value, always pay in francs.
Is Switzerland in the EU?+
No. Switzerland is not in the European Union. But Switzerland is part of

the Schengen Area, so an Indian Schengen visa allows entry. Switzerland

keeps the franc rather than the euro.
Is there TCS on buying Swiss francs?+
Most Switzerland trips below ₹10 lakh have no TCS. Above ₹10 lakh: 20

percent on travel and family support, 5 percent on self-funded

education.
Should I tip in Switzerland?+
Tipping is appreciated but modest. Restaurant bills already include a

service charge by law. 5 to 10 percent or rounding up the bill is

standard. Taxis: round up the fare. Hotel porters: CHF 2 to CHF 5 per

bag.
