Paying in Lombok
Lombok is more cash-reliant than Bali, especially on the Gili Islands where card acceptance is limited even at some resorts. Carry more cash than feels necessary, particularly for a Gili Islands stay, since ATMs are less common there than on the mainland.

Getting around
Lombok has no meaningful public transit for tourists. Options are:
Grab or Gojek. Works in and around Kuta Lombok and Senggigi, coverage thins outside the main towns.
Private driver. The standard way to see Rinjani's foothills, waterfalls, and the south coast beaches in one trip, priced per day rather than per ride.
Scooter rental. Common and cheap, similar cautions apply as anywhere else in Indonesia; Lombok's roads are quieter than Bali's but still no real lane discipline.
